Our trainers and instructors have years of experience helping horses and riders. We focus on clear, supportive instruction that will help you improve your riding skills and reach your riding goals. Our trainers provide professional schooling for all our horses and are experienced in bringing along young horses, preparing horses and ponies for the show ring and providing a variety of exercises to keep both horse and rider eager and focused.
Tricia Moss, Head Trainer and Rider
Tricia Moss is an accomplished rider and sought-after instructor for children and adults. As an amateur, Tricia rode with Carl Catani, respected horseman and USEF judge, and went on to work at Riverwind Farm. While earning a Bachelor's Degree in Equine Science from Mount Ida College, she was the 3rd ranked Intercollegiate Rider in the country and coached the Intercollegiate Team for 2 years.
Tricia is proud of the many hunter ring tricolors she and her students have earned at top shows, such as Saratoga, Vermont, HITS (Ocala and Saugerties), in both the professional and junior divisions. In the Equitation Ring, Tricia's students have qualified for all of the local medal finals, the regional Maclay finals and the National Maclay and USEF medal finals.
In addition to riding and training, Tricia specializes in selecting and developing young horses for sale. After selecting Winston (see Sale/Lease Link for details) and Let's Go as very young horses, Tricia is enjoying showing them this year in the Pre-green Hunters and First Year Hunters respectively.
Tricia lives in Wilmington, Massachusetts with her husband Justin and small dog Lena.
Dina Mazzola, Assistant Trainer and Rider
Dina Mazzola is an experienced rider and popular instructor and clinician. Her first success as a rider and trainer was with Idol Talk, a thoroughbred that Dina picked out of a field who went on to be the Canadian Junior Hunter of the Year with Dina. Following a stint in the corporate world, Dina returned to horses and worked for renowned trainers Leslie Steele of Acres West and Patricia Griffith and Andre Dignelli of Heritage Farm.
Prior to joining Esterbrook Farm, Dina worked with Sarah Friedman of Autumn Farms in North Salem, New York. Together they more than doubled the size of Autumn Farms, winning championships in the hunter and equitation rings at such prestigious shows as Old Salem Farm, Lake Placid, Vermont, Zone II Finals, and Capital Challenge.
Dina specializes in bringing along young horses and is a student of hunter, jumper, equitation and pony breeding. She is currently fulfilling her requirements to become a recorded USEF Hunter and Hunter Equitation judge.
Dina lives in Bolton, Massachusetts with her husband, and daughter, Eva, who has just started to follow in her mother's footsteps!
Sue Lohrer, Instructor
Sue Lohrer has been teaching riding to children and adults for ten years. After graduating from Stanford University with a degree in Psychology, Sue worked in the corporate world, as an elementary school teacher and as a teacher educator. Sue combines her love of horses, students and teaching in refreshing fun and demanding lessons.
Crystal Whittemore, Instructor
Crystal Whittemore has been riding since she was three years old and teaching for the last ten years. She loves working with students and their horses to identify problem areas and find creative ways to change old habits. Crystal's lessons emphasize fun and safety. One of Crystal's strengths is working with the synergy between horse and rider, helping both to move forward as a team.
